When I surf countingcrows.com I live under the delusion that the staff works in an office decorated with Ikea furniture, the cd player constantly plays Counting Crows live shows and a giant flat screen tv is showing videos, interviews and past concerts. I tend to think that all day long they stare up at venue posters and record store flats and try to come up with new ideas for the site, the band and the store. I'd like to think they are wearing prototypes of future shirts and gear. Their break room is plastered with stickers and magnets awaiting approval. I'd like to think Adam is the best boss ever and sometimes he calls from the road just to say he hasn't slept, that rumor is not true, and did they fix the pop machine yet? When I think of this make believe work place I wonder why they don't have a web cam for us to watch.
In reality, the site is probably designed by people who haven't ever met in real life. People scattered across the country connected by email and ftp sites. People who have other real jobs. I wonder about these people. I wonder about Lisa and Kelly and their sites too. Maybe someday, as more of my personality comes out onto these pages, you'll wonder about me.
