more answers to questions- don't really dig awards shows so we don't usually go. why do people place importance on shows that pretend to say who is best? who are they to decide? why should i or you or anyone place any value in this? i have opinions about what i like, but that does not mean someone is better than someone else. actually, my opinions are always right . maybe awards shows should be for my favorite bands and videos.. that would be way cooler. think i'm on to something.... tomorrow i will call mtv and vh-1 to propose new awards show. this is an example of why it is particularly important to avoid loud expressions of public hypocrisy. much humility will follow.
new subject-monkey, if you ask me, can be a very affectionate term. and i am not a "complex" writer. that is just the mistake everyone makes. i think the songs are very simple and honest.

ps. we went to edmonton and calgary and idaho during mtv awards. don't care about them much myself, but i wish the wallflowers had won. nice nice nice guys. we'll miss 'em when we're done with this tour.

someone said ben was not one of the main members of the band. ben is the nicest and the funniest of all of us. believe me, inside the band, he might be everyone's personal fave.(well, after matt, but he's insane) plus, ben saved us. if we hadn't found him...too terrible to contemplate.

one last thought tonight. i think the vh-1 storytellers will not be aired until sometime in october although i am not sure. they think we will just bapprove their edit and mix of the show and therfore it can be released quickly. this seems unlikely to me. we are very picky about our work. we will get it right and then we will put it on tv and not before. we will try our best to do it quickly though. but things take the time they take. sleep well' i read 345 posts tonight.

well, that took forever. what are you all doing? there are so many posts here ...if you miss two days you have to read 300. and i must say, julie, paula, and zack(see you in CA soon) many of them are supremely uninteresting.
going to bed here in denver. gigolo aunts arrived on tour in salt lake city wednesday. they were awesome. sorry to see neilson go. the band was great and they are all cool guys. make sure to caome early to all west coast dates. gigolo aunts must be seen.
got whiskeytown cd the other day. we listened to it all night on the drive from slc to denver. me, charlie, and matt stayed up 'til 6am listening to it over asnd over again. all other band members now hate us and whiskeytown. i suggest you buy it so your friends can hate you too

we're back . guess that's a good thing. expected to not write for months, but surprising last week of tour had me, dan, and matt siiting down together and coming up with about six beginnings of pieces. dan, ben, and i are all in la and all excited about 4-tracking after new years. so maybe all will proceed quicker this time.
storytellers is still up in the air, but looking up. if you want to, you can e- mail geffen(i don't know where) maybe that will help. either way, i am optimistic.
europe was hard, but rewarding . we played with abandon.
tired of hotels. glad to be home. life gets ruined on the road. "...but what would you change if you could?" ....nothing, probably. too bad. oh well, "...maybe this year will be..." you know the rest
